Shelley Stratton presents “Increasing Positive Health Outcome for Caregivers” at the next WOW! Working on Wellness radio forum, set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at KSQM 91.5 FM Radio.
Stratton’s presentation focuses on the impact of caregiving on the caregiver’s mental, emotional, and physical health and well-being, and on the question of how to know when to ask for help.
Event organizers note that caregivers — paid or unpaid members of a person’s network who helps with the activities of daily living — are most commonly a spouse, partner, family member, friend or neighbor.
Stratton is a Sequim resident and board member of the Dungeness Health and Wellness Center, where she has volunteered as a nurse manager for nine years.
She is also owner of Bodhi Tree Yoga Studio, and in her 12 years as a yoga teacher she has worked with a range of students, both in the classroom and developing programs for various specialties.
WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic — Sequim’s free clinic, which provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. Work is supported by more than 70 volunteers including physicians, other professional health care providers an laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.
The Basic Urgent Care Clinic is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5 p.m.
Individuals interested in supporting the clinic may call 360-582-0218.
