Clallam youngsters turned out in droves for the annual Sequim Merchants Halloween trick-or-treat Saturday, Oct. 30.

Marti McAllister Wolf, owner of Pacific Mist Books, said she had "close to 700" costumed characters in her store. "I had 700 pieces of candy and had just 25 left," she said. Last year she started with 500 and ran out. This year she wisely had more in stock. "I think the number increases every year," she said.

Mark Ozias, owner of The Red Rooster, said "Many dozens came through the store. It was fun to be here, and we’re looking forward to next Halloween."

Most of the children also made their way to the "H" building at Sequim High School, home of the Haunted Hallways. They were entertained by high school students with games of skill, and games of chance, with most resulting in even more candy.

The Sequim High School leadership class put the event together.

It was all in preparation for Sunday night – All Hallows Eve – when the ghouls, goblins and Spidermen hit the streets for the big show.
