A trio of Sequim’s finest singers transform Olympic Theatre Arts’ Gathering Hall into a music-filled cabaret starting this weekend. Mother-daughter Olivia and Sarah Shea join Mark Lorentzen for six shows of “A Cabaret,” a combination of stage hits going Oct. 4-13.

Songs featured include music from “Cabaret,” “Gypsy,” “Westside Story,” “Damn Yankees,” “South Pacific” and more.

“It’ll be very nice for October to sit back with a glass of wine and hear some great music and good jokes all in a club-like atmosphere,” Olivia Shea, also the show’s director, said.

For a year, she’s been preparing for the show with her daughter, who is a locally well-known jazz singer. She met Lorentzen during the Port Angeles Light Opera Association’s performance of “South Pacific,” which she directed and in which he performed.

“He just has such a great stage presence,” she said. “He also comes from a family of musically talented people.”

Included in the show will be tributes to composers such as Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and George Gershwin, whom Shea said are the ultimate songwriters.

Music from the show should resonate with local music fans, Shea said.

“There’s always a good audience for musicals here,” she said.

If the event is a success, Shea hopes to add live music next year.

Mike Reichner will serve as emcee for the shows.
