Peninsula’s women got a big win and the PC men made ir a clean sweep with a shutout as Peninsula played rude hosts to the Edmonds Tritons on May 17.

In the opener, the Pirates broke open a 1-1 tie with six second half goals in a 7-1 victory.

Miya Clark had both of her scores in the second half and assisted on three goals while teammate Makenna Wilson had scores in each half of the victory for an undefeated Peninsula squad (7-0).

Kyrsten McGuffey, Addy Becker and Hana Scott had scores for PC.

PC’s Musuai Isaia had three saves in the victory.

In the “nightcap,” Peninsula’s men got scores from Jeong Hyun Kang, Theodore Baiye and Christopher Domingue to blank Edmonds, 3-0.

PC’s defense proved too tough for the Tritons, who didn’t manage to get a shot on goal.

The Pirate men improved to 6-1 on the season.

Women knock off Cardinals

After a scoreless first half, Peninsula’s women erupted for three scores and came away with a 3-1 road win at Skagit Valley, out-shooting the Cardinals 15-9.

Cecilia Jenkins got PC on the scoreboard with an unassisted score about two minutes into the second frame.

Teammate Alysia Alvarado made it 2-0 with an unassisted score of her own at the 58:30 mark.

McGuffey made it 3-0 PC off a feed from Miya Clarke.

Skagit’s Mackenzie Carnell got one back near stoppage time but the comeback fell short.

Isaia had a pair of saves in the win.

Peninsula’s men are at Whatcom on May 20 — the women’s game was canceled because of injuries to Whatcom’s squad — and both PC teams cap the season with May 24 home matches against Everett.
