Despite social distancing restrictions, a trio of Bodystrong Taekwon-do Academy students advanced in black belt testing this June.
Larry Muckley, who now teaches at his own Taekwon-do school in Blyn, tested for his 3rd dan. Troy Phipps, a local nurse, also tested for his 3rd dan, and Ryan Stites, a 13-year-old who has been training for nearly six years, tested to 1st dan black belt.
Because of the social distancing requirements, candidates were unable to demonstrate their skills against each other at close range; however, instructor Brandon Stoppani said all candidates demonstrated their physical skill, knowledge and power before the board of three master instructors in Battle Ground near Vancouver, Wash.
The Bodystrong Taekwon-do Academy in Sequim is currently open to new students; call 360-582-0301 for more information.
