Dociani Halloran Foundation keeps club open later

The Mary P. Dolciani Halloran Foundation of New York City has given the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula a $10,000 grant for its Sequim Teen Club.

Those include:

_ Power Hour: homework tutoring

_ Triple Play: physical activities and health education

_ Club-to-Kitchen: culinary skills development

_ Goals for Graduation: academic goal setting

_ Skill Tech: computer-learning activities

_ SMART Moves: prevention program about drug use and premature sexual activity

_ Project Learn: fun-filled, academically beneficial activities

_ Healthy Habits: emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being

_ Evening and overnight field trips.

In 1982, Mary Dolciani Halloran and her husband, James Halloran, established the foundation to enhance the study of mathematics and to support humanitarian and educational projects. She was a mathematician, educator and author.
