The Olympic Peninsula Authors group (OPA) and Port Angeles Fine Arts Center (PAFAC) are kicking off the New Year by matching interested writers with captivating photography by local high school students.
PAFAC representatives will selecting photos submitted by students to hang in the gallery at Webster Woods in the first quarter of 2022. Students are working with the concept of “a world on pause,” reflecting their lives during the COVID pandemic.
OPA invites writers from Clallam and Jefferson counties to match short poems/prose to the photographs. Selected authors will read their work aloud in the gallery on a date to be determined in February.
To participate, contact OPA at olypenauthors@olypen.com. After viewing the student photographs, choose the one that “speaks” to you and develop poetry or short prose to interpret the photo.
“Please act quickly on this,” OPA representatives noted last week. “The sooner we have the writers, the more time we can allow for preparation of your poem or prose.”
