Storm King Soccer Club Celebrates 27 years of serving local soccer families
Storm King FC, representing the North Olympic Peninsula with 11 soccer teams participating in the North Puget Sound League, recently wrapped its fall 2021 soccer season.
The regional fall league travel soccer season begins in early September and ends the middle of December. Storm King’s 11 teams are comprised of youth ranging in age from 9-17 from across Clallam and Jefferson counties. They compete against teams across the Puget Sound, with home games played either at Agnew Soccer Fields or at Peninsula College in Port Angeles.
Storm King FC has fielded youth soccer teams and enhancing local high school prep squads since 1994.
Offering year-round program, Storm King FC offers “the highest level of soccer training for developing players focusing on their social/emotional and physical health, in a positive, fun, and constructive environment,” organizers said.
The organization also produces inner-club programs, team practices and other opportunities like the winter GRIT Academy partnership with Peninsula College until North Puget Sound League and tournament play begins in the spring.
Official tryouts are in late May/early June; however, players and families that are interested in joining up are welcome to contact the club at any time (see contact info below), organizers said.
Storm King FC also began a new Shooting Stars Soccer Academy program for players ages 4-6.
“This is an amazing opportunity to plug aspiring little ones in to a regularly meeting group of like-minded families who understand that the best outcomes for positive development in the youth come from a fun, trust-based and relaxed atmosphere that respects each player individually allowing them to grow from within their own comfort level,” program organizers said.
Shooting Stars, a free all-outdoor program, meets once a week on Saturday mornings year-round at Storm King FC home fields at Agnew, 1240 North Barr Road. For more information or to join, contact Kevin McGruther at president@stormkingsoccer.com.
