Leland Schwab
1941 – 2022
Leland Schwab will be best remembered by his adoring children, wife, brothers and their families, and community for his spunk.
An incredible story-teller, joke-teller, adventurer, and all around goofball, Leland made the most of every minute life had to offer. He didn’t just live until 80, but thrived- taking advantage of every opportunity to travel, connect deeply with family and friends, help lift others up, and give back to his community.
Throughout his long and full life he dabbled in running the famous Schwab’s pharmacy, a rust prevention business, camping and canoeing, gardening and landscaping, carpentry, and – of course – running Schwab Realty for over 35 years. Along the way, he and Paula met, fell madly in love, and raised two boys together during the course of their 41-year marriage.
Leland was an incredible son, brother, uncle, husband, and father of four children and four grandchildren. He will be deeply missed but his humor, love, and good spirit will live on.
There will be a private family celebration of life.
William “Bill” Wrobel
September 21, 1947 – February 1, 2022
Bill Wrobel passed from this life on February 1, 2022 with Christine, his wife of 51 years, holding his hand and humming The Twelfth of Never” (their song since high school).
Bill was born and raised in Syracuse, New York, attended St. Anthony of Padua School, and graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse University, and New York University. His work life involved civil and environmental engineering projects in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, Southern California, Alaska and Louisiana. He thrived on meeting people, learning of their interests, having earnest conversations on all manner of topics. He enjoyed fly fishing, was a Master Gardener for 40 years, and was actively involved in Tax Aid, the City of Sequim Parks Board, the Sequim Botanical Garden, the KONP Radio garden show, KSQM radio, and solving computer problems.
Bill is survived by his wife, Christine, and his brother, Patrick Wrobel of Syracuse.
Bill & Chris are forever grateful for the kindness and care given by the medical professionals at the Olympic Medical Centers and Jamestown Family Health Clinic for the past 16 years.
Crystal Lynn Edgington
October 1, 1983 – January 14, 2022
Crystal passed away from a heart attack at the age of 38, way too young to be taken from family and friends that cared about and loved her. She is survived by her parents, Jeff and Karrie, of Sequim. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold and Gen Edgington. She had recently moved to South Carolina after living in Sequim and Port Angeles her whole life. She was a graduate of Sequim High School. She was very independent and had a great work ethic. She worked at the John Wayne Marina restaurant out of high school, until its closing. She went on to work as a line chef at Traylors for many years until moving to South Carolina in August. She made many friends at Traylors, both coworkers and customers. We would like to thank Traylors for their love and support. A special shout out to Amber and her longtime special friend Kim. Also her new friends and coworkers at the Olive Garden in South Carolina. Funeral arrangements are being made in South Carolina. Memorial contributions in Crystal’s name can be made to Peninsula Friends of Animals and the American Heart Association. Winona Bekkevar
November 15, 1928 – January 17, 2022
Winona Bekkevar, of Sequim, WA died from natural causes at home on January 17, 2022.
A celebration of life will be announced along with an obituary sometime in the spring.
Lavina Rae Johnson
February 23, 1940 January 30, 2022
Lavina Rae Johnson of Sequim, Washington, passed away on January 30, 2022 of cancer complications.
Lavina was born February 23, 1940 in Ronan, Montana, to Ray and Anna (Erickson) Tudor. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Bainbridge Island, WA, where she enjoyed growing up with many of her cousins. Lavina graduated from Bainbridge High School on Bainbridge Island, WA and then attended Olympic College where she met her soon-to-be husband.
On January 31, 1960, she married her sweetheart, Dr. Runar D. Johnson in Bremerton, WA. After undergraduate school in Helena, MT, and completing Dental School in St. Louis, MS, she and Runar moved to Sequim and opened a dental practice in 1968 and have been residents in Sequim ever since.
Lavina devoted her life to her husband, her family, her friends and ministering in the local church.
Lavina is survived by her husband Dr. Runar D. Johnson of Sequim, WA; her sister Janice Burke; her children Dwayne Johnson, Deanna Deckard, and Amalia Lillis; her 9 grandchildren Brandon Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Suzie Johnson, Daniel Deckard, Amalia Farris, Isaac Deckard, Emma Lillis, and Ashton Lillis. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother LeRoy Tudor.
A Memorial Service will be held on Lavina’s birthday, February 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Sequim Bible Church, located at 847 North Sequim Avenue, Sequim, WA. Flowers may be delivered to Sequim Bible church on February 23, 2022.

Victor Francis Johnson
September 14, 1934 – January 31, 2022
Victor Francis Johnson, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2022 at age 87 in his home in Juneau Alaska surrounded by loving family. Victor was born in Muskegon, Michigan on September 14, 1934 to Harvey and Dorothy Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Barbara and the children he helped raise, Jaime Kelly Zellhuber and her husband Aldon, Alex Kelly and his wife Chelsea; Steven Johnson, Nikki Johnson (Nyke Soul) and Gina Johnson from his second wife Marcia. He is preceded in death by his son Victor from his first wife Shirley as well his 5 siblings Marion, Harvey, Kirk, Terry and David.
Vick was the proud grandfather of Aaron, Maria, and Katelin from his son Vick and Cindy; Victor and Thor from his son Steven and Melody. He was beloved Pop Pop to Jaime and Aldon’s children, Zander, Athena, Alanna and Maralie, and Alex and Chelsea’s son, James. A great grandson, Braxton, blessed the family along with Zander’s wife Stacy.
Victor, a Korean War Veteran, left school to join the Navy at the age of 17 and served as a radio operator aboard ship. Afterwards he finished his education and moved to Sitka Alaska in 1968 where he was the first and only French teacher at Blatchley Junior High School for 20 years. He lived life joyfully and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, travel, music and dancing.He escorted several groups of his French students on trips to Europe and he took his family to Paris to live for a year while he completed his Masters Degree at the Sorbonne. He ran a sport fishing charter in Sitka during summers and after retiring from teaching and later spent 7 years sailing in the warm waters of the Bahamas and Caribbean with Barbara followed by several years of land cruising in a recreation vehicle before settling in Sequim WA. He returned to Alaska in 2019 in order to live out the end of his life in his beloved Alaska close to his Alaskan family.
A memorial service will be held in Sitka, Alaska at a later date and he will be laid to rest in the Sitka National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Wounded Warriors or The American Cancer Society.
