Two Port Angeles residents avoided injuries after their car drifted of the roadway and came to rest on a hill next to U.S. Highway 101 on May 19.

Irene and Robert Metcalf, both in their 80s, were transported to Olympic Medical Center as a precaution after the couple’s Toyota Highlander left the highway just north of Blyn, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

The vehicle drifted off the roadway to the right while the driver, Irene Metcalf, was looking at a field to the left; she was charged with driving with wheels off the roadway, the State Patrol reported.
