Sequim High’s Class of 2022 get nearly $4 million in scholarships

Sequim High School’s soon-to-be graduates have some help — to the tune of nearly $4 million — as they seek training and degrees at colleges and universities in the coming months.

The school celebrated its scholarship and grant recipients at SHS’s annual Scholarship Awards ceremony on June 1.

As of late last week, the SHS seniors — who are set to graduate Friday, June 10 — have amassed $3,940,257 in grants, scholarships and other funding from various local clubs and groups, colleges, universities and military branches.

Peninsula College is the most frequent landing spot for SHS graduates receiving scholarships; 10 said they plan to attend this fall. Seven students plan to attend the University of Washington — six at the Seattle campus, one in Bothell — while three plan on attending Washington State University.

In SHS’s Class of 2022, 25 students are in line to receive at least $80,000 in scholarships or grants — 16 of those more than $100,000.

Koda Robinson received $500,000 to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. Deirdre Dorrell will receive a little less than $190,000 to attend Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while Malory Morey will get $188,500 to attend the University of Portland. Alisa Bibaj has more than $167,000 to attend Whitworth University and Jose Ramirez received $166,000 to attend Seattle Pacific University.
