Candidates for the Director of Community Development will have an opportunity to share their views and discuss their campaigns at a forum set for 5 p.m. Thursday, July 7, on Zoom.
Co-sponsored by the Clallam County League of Women Voters and the North Olympic Library System, the forum invites candidates to provide their qualifications, state why they are running and their goals for the office, if elected. A forum moderator will then pose the questions provided by the public.
Candidates invited include Bruce Emery, Cherie Kidd, Jesse Major and Kevin Russell.
Clallam County is the only county in the nation in which the role of DCD is elected and not appointed by the county commissioners.
Mary Ellen Winborn, the Director of Community Development for Clallam County since 2014, moved to Mississippi and is directing the department remotely. She has not resigned and plans to continue working in her position, which pays $101,000 annually, until her term ends in December.
Questions from the public will be received up to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 6; email questions to info@lwvcla.org with the subject line “DCD Forum Question” (include your name).
Join the Zoom at us06web.zoom.us/j/82700676677 (meeting ID 827 0067 6677). Join by phone at 253-215-8782 or find a local number at us06web.zoom.us/u/knHA80ILM.
