The April 4 Art Walk Color Theme is Pink!

Spring blooms with bright flowers and hopeful spirits as April’s First Friday Art Walk Sequim bursts with PINK as the theme color that represents comforting assurance, sweet delight, productive promises and encouragement. You will find works of art and folks supporting the option to dress in all shades of pink from strong burgundy to soft blush for the evening out on the town.

First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a fun and free self-guided tour of local art venues in Sequim on the First Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m. Visit online at www.sequimartwalk.com as your resource to download and print your own map, find out what special events are happening, see links, and discover how you can be part of art.

Our mission is to create approachable and accessible art and cultural venues that encourage the community to connect and celebrate expression and diversity. The event is sponsored and produced by unique as you/Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond.

To create inclusion between venues, artists and audience, everyone is encouraged to participate in the Art Walk’s monthly themes as a fun community activity in any creative form they wish to express it. ­January is silver, February is red, March is green, April is pink, May is aqua, June is white, July is purple, August is yellow, September is blue, October is orange, November is brown, and December is gold.

Olympic Peninsula BirdFest occurs April 4-6 in Sequim and there are several corresponding events happening in collaboration with the Art Walk to celebrate our feathered friends! For more details, visit www.olympicpicbirdfest.org.

We’re hatching some fun! Please join us on April 4 during the First Friday Art Walk in Sequim for the 2nd Annual BirdFest BirdQuest Matching Game. It is free and fun for the whole family. Pick up a game card at any business with “green binoculars” on the door. Search the stores for bird sculptures made by Sequim High School art students from Jake Reichner’s ceramics classes. Match each bird with the business where it is “nesting.” Also remember to vote for your favorite bird as the students have an opportunity to win prizes.

Once complete, take your card to That Takes the Cake at 171 W. Washington St. and enter for a chance to win “A Bird’s Eye View” scenic airplane ride with pilot Emily Westcott.

Entries must be received by 8 p.m. on April 4. (Winner must be 18 years or older.) The winner will be announced that night.

• Fieldnotes at 123 E. Washington St. and Pacific Pantry at 229 S. Sequim Ave. are showcasing botanical paintings by Iris Edey.

• Colors of Sequim at 139 W. Washington St. will have a book signing with author Buc Keene who has written “The Kind of Western I’d Like to Read” series.

• Larry Bosworth, oil painting artist. 5-8 p.m., Colors of Sequim, 139 W. Washington St.

• Nora Lawson’s photographic art, through May, Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

• Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton, traditional art work, Gallery on the Walls. Meet the artists 5-8 p.m.

• Featured artists for April are Christian Speidel and Joyce Volmut, veteran wood sculptors. Meet the artists 5-8 p.m., Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St.

• Olympic Driftwood Sculptors and photographer Ross Hamilton, through April 26 at the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, 175 W. Cedar St. Meet the artists 5-8 p.m. Friday.

• LARC Gallery, 425 E. Washington St., featuring all its artists through April. Reception 5-8 p.m.

• Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., and in conjunction with BirdFest, will feature Robert Amaral’s paintings of bison and landscapes. The show will continue through April from 3-8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday (Wednesday live music 6 p.m.), 3-9 p.m. Thursday (live music 6:30 p.m.), 2-9 p.m. Friday (live music 7 p.m.), 1-9 p.m. Saturday, (live music 7 p.m.) and Sunday 1-4 p.m.

• Gallery at the Fifth, Susan Sparr’s classical and realistic oil paintings through April. Reception from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 500 W. Hendrickson Road.

• Local artists at Rainshadow Roasting Company, 157 W. Cedar St. Reception 5-8 p.m.

• Sequim’s Sunshine Café is exhibiting Sequim Student Art Show award winners’ nature art and original birdhouses that are “Real Estate for Birds. Rustic, but newly renovated” at 145 W. Washington St., 5-8 p.m.

• Olympic Theatre Arts, a display of original relief prints by artists Randy and Sallie Radock. Also “An Unusual Evening in Sequim: A Celebration of the Bard,” OTA’s Shakespeare Revelers will perform favorite soliloquies and sonnets from Shakespeare and discuss why the Bard is meaningful to them.

• R&T Crystals and Beads will have jewelry demonstrations from Paulette Hill and Gail McLain at 158 E. Bell St.

• Doodlebugs has their Creative Café Art Bar open and holds a “Happy Hour” when people can create the project every Friday evening from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
