Three trees were planted in honor of the City of Sequim’s annual Arbor Day celebration on Nov. 18 in Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 W. Washington St.
Mayor Tom Ferrell, city manager Matt Huish and city councilor Rachel Anderson with daughter Luna put the ceremonial first dirt on to celebrate the occasion after Ferrell read a proclamation. Organizers say the trees include a Teddy Bear Magnolia and two Horstmann’s Silberlocke.
Ty Brown, Sequim operations manager, said “it’s nice to be planting some trees after the ones we lost (during recent wind and snow storms in the city).”
Sequim Prairie Garden Club president Vina Winters said 2023 is the club’s 75th anniversary and club members plan to improve the whole park and plan various events to celebrate.
