Submissions for two writing events on the Olympic Peninsula are now open: one, for a live performance of poems, and the other a printed anthology of poetry and prose.

For the third consecutive year, Olympic Peninsula Authors (OPA) is curating “Poetry in the Park” for the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center (PAFAC) in Webster Woods. Selected poets will recite their poems on June 17 and those works will also be printed on boards that appear throughout the park for the following year.

The theme for the event this year is: “Under the Canopy: Engage Create Connect.”

Submissions for PAFAC’s “Poetry in the Park” are: poems must be 25 lines or less, and be submitted as Word or Pages document as an attachment to olypenauthors@olypen.com (do not put one’s name on the attachment, only on a cover note).

There is no entry fee, and the submission deadline is April 16.

Secondly, Olympic Peninsula Authors announces their sixth anthology is now open for submissions. The theme is “Treasures,” and is based on author experiences, history, attitudes and encounters with the Olympic Peninsula.

The anthology is open to short stories, essays, poetry, fiction and non-fiction.

Submit Word or Pages documents as attachment to olypenauthors@olypen.com (do not put one’s name on the attachment, only on a cover note).

Stories have a limit of 3,000 words.

There is no entry fee; however, a production fee of $25 will be charged to those included in the book.

The submission deadline is April 30.

The anthology publication date and launch is expected to be June 2023, with final details forthcoming, organizers say.
