Sequim High’s fastpitch team earned a split of Olympic League games last week, routing Kingston before falling at home to Olympic.
On April 11, Sequim’s Hannah Bates and Taylee Rome each had huge games as the Wolves romped over host Kingston, 15-5.
Bates went 4-for-5 at the plate with a triple, four runs scored and two stolen bases. She also had an RBI and a walk. Rome also went 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs scored, three RBIs, a stolen base and a walk.
Lainy Vig also went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base. On the rubber, she pitched all seven innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs while striking out eight.
Angel Wagner went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs, and Jordan Kidd hit a triple, scored a run, drove in two, stole a base and walked twice. The Wolves racked up a total of 15 hits.
On April 13, visiting Olympic cooled off Sequim bats and came away with a 4-1 victory.
The Wolves only mustered four hits against Trojans’ No. 2 pitcher Roslyn Tate, led by Rome’s two-hit game. She doubled and singled for Sequim while Vig and Lexi King each added singles.
Vig gave Sequim chances to win the game in the circle, scattering seven hits and allowing four runs in seven innings of work.
Sequim, 4-2 in the Olympic League and 4-5 overall, was scheduled to host rival Port Angeles on April 18; results were not available at press time.
Sequim takes on Gig Harbor on the road in a non-league match-up on April 21. The Wolves are at Bremerton on April 25 and play at North Kitsap on April 27.
