Soroptimist International of Sequim recently announced their May 2023 selections of Young Women Excelling in High School.
Lauryn Stephens spends her off hours from school as a coach and referee with Sequim Youth Basketball girls teams. It is her goal to help young girls find confidence in whatever they do.
An Academic Scholar Award winner, Stephens also volunteers her time for school sporting events, working in the concession stand. She plans to attend Washington State University in Pullman, with a major in nursing.
Karlie Viada is very active in 4-H, serving as secretary, equity and inclusion ambassador, and 4-H president. In addition she is a member and co-president of High Reading Society and recipient of art awards presented by 2023 Tidepools Magazine.
Viada has chosen to attend University of Portland and will major in nursing.
Isabella Williams is a member of Honors Society and Interact Club. Her volunteer activities include Sequim Sunrise Rotary’s Blanket Drive, Olympic Medical Center’s Foundation’s Festival of Trees and the 7Cedars Sonny Sixkiller fundraiser, along with 200 hundred service hours as Sequim Irrigation Festival queen.
In addition to all of her volunteering, Williams is bi-literate and is an Advance Placement Student.
Williams plans to attend Northern Arizona University, where she will major in either mechanical or civil engineering.
