Last week seemed to have it all for Peninsula College’s softball squad, who ended the week with a pair of forfeit wins against Edmonds April 5, snapping a seven-game losing streak.

After an April 2 doubleheader against Olympic was rained out, Peninsula saw plenty of runs raining down in a pair of losses to Skagit Valley April 4.

Sequim High grad Ashley Pearson smacked a home run as the visiting Cardinals dropped Peninsula 10-0 in six innings.

The Pirates out-hit Skagit 5-4 but committed seven errors in the loss.

Peninsula’s Bethany Holt was 2-for-3 and teammates Kelly Henderson and Damaris Craig were each 1-for-3 with a double.

Sierra McCoy, who recorded five strikeouts and three walks, took the loss on the mound to go to 2-7 on the year.

In the second game, Skagit rocked starter Sindi Morrison for 12 runs in the first inning on the way to a 19-0, five-inning whitewashing.

Peninsula didn’t manage a hit and committed four errors.

Morrison gave up eight walks and dropped to 1-5 on the season. McCoy struck out one and walked two in relief.

The Pirates got a bit of a break when Edmonds had to forfeit an April 5 doubleheader because of a lack of eligible players.

The wins gave Peninsula (3-7 in NWAACC play, 5-12 overall) their first wins since March 21 when they beat Edmonds.

Peninsula was scheduled to play at Everett April 8 — results were unavailable at press time. The Pirates host Shoreline April 11 and travel to Olympic (Bremerton) April 12.
