Mary Crook and Gail Ditmore will be demonstrating how to make attractive flower arrangements during the next “Work to Learn” Party, scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Sequim Botanical Garden in Carrie Blake Community Park, 500 N. Blake Ave.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a vase and clippers to use the garden’s dahlias and roses as the core of cut flower bouquets. Extra foliage, water and clippers will be provided. Afterward, learn to identify and deadhead (cut off) the past-peak blooms in the Terrace Garden.
Crook is the new Sequim Botanical Garden Society (SBGS) board president and has been a volunteer for more than five years. Ditmore owned a flower shop in the Tacoma area and has designed flower bouquets professionally for the past 30 years, and now has retired to sunny Sequim.
The Sequim Botanical Garden Society is a volunteer partner with the City of Sequim and a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides education and a visual demonstration of home gardening with research-based horticultural practices.
