Voting in the 2023 General Election is quickly underway this week, with more than 57,000 ballots being mailed to all active registered Clallam County voters on Oct. 18. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7.
To participate in voting in the General Election, those who are qualified new voters have until Oct. 30 to register online or by mail, or until 8 p.m. Nov. 7 to register in person at the Elections and Voter Registration Office (Room 042) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Registered voters may access their registration details and other voter information online at votewa.gov. Those needing a replacement ballot may also access a printable ballot via the secure website, or obtain one by contacting Clallam County Elections and Voter Registration at 360-417-2221 or elections@clallamcountywa.gov.
Ballots must be postmarked or returned to a Clallam County Official Ballot Drop Box by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Clallam County’s Official Ballot Drop Box locations in the Sequim area are at 651 W. Washington St. (in the parking lot), and 261461 U.S. Highway 101 near Sunny Farms Country Store.
In Port Angeles there are three ballot boxes at the courthouse: in the circular driveway; directly across from the disabled parking; and, another inside the Elections and Voter Registration Office.
To assist voters with disabilities in voting independently an Accessible Voting Unit is available beginning Oct. 18 in the Elections and Voter Registration Office. Regular business hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, with extended Election Day hours of 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Printed Local Voters’ Pamphlets featuring local candidate races have been mailed to each household in Clallam County. An Online Voters’ Guide is also available on the Clallam County Elections website at clallamcountywa.gov/elections.
Tips for voting
Clallam County election officials offer these tips for making sure your vote is counted on Election Day:
• Read the ballot, envelope, and voters’ pamphlet carefully.
• Completely fill in the oval next to your choice.
• Choices will count only those races for which you voted, and your ballots will be processed even if you don’t vote for each race.
• Remove and recycle the stub at the top of the ballot.
• Sign the declaration on the back of the return envelope.
• Do not put multiple ballots in one envelope.
• Return your ballot via mail or Official Drop Box.
