Rhonda Heym, executive director of Tim’s Place, will present “Adult Activity Programs for Memory Loss, Dementia & Alzheimer’s” — a free WOW! Working on Wellness Radio Forum — from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, on KSQM 91.5 FM.
Tim’s Place is a respite ministry designed to provide a place of love and community for people living with all types of memory loss, including Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke and age-related dementia. Along with a trained group of volunteers, “we experience the deep joy of creating a community where people living with memory loss are remembered for who they are, not for what they are no longer,” group organizers say.
Tim’s Place stimulates cognition, nurtures growth, and provides purpose and meaning for participants with memory challenges, as well as dedicated volunteers who serve as intentional companions. Participants have the opportunity to socialize with others while enjoying a variety of stimulating activities.
WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic — Sequim’s free clinic. The clinic provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. The work is supported by more than 70 volunteers, including physicians, other professional health care providers and laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.
The Basic Urgent Care Clinic is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5 p.m. Individuals interested in supporting the clinic are encouraged to call 360-582-0218.
