A charge against Pat McCauley, of Sequim, of making a false statement to a law enforcement officer has been dismissed.

Deputy prosecutor John Troberg’s motion for dismissal, filed Jan. 12, stated that given the county’s limited resources, the charge didn’t justify a Superior Court trial.

Her husband, James McCauley, faces a Feb. 8 trial on one count each of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run (injury accident).

James McCauley allegedly intentionally struck Sierra Swarm, who was crossing a Port Angeles street on Oct. 18, then drove away. Swarm was treated and released from Olympic Medical Center.
