Girls bowling: Knights edge Wolves on lanes

Sequim’s bowling squad nearly pulled off a win on the road but fell to host Bremerton 5-2 on Nov. 21 in a match closer than the score indicates.

Nikoline Updike had a monster first game with 188 pins and teammate Kimberly Heintz added a 143-pin game, but the Knights edged Sequim, 629-616.

Bremerton prevailed in game two as well, despite a 151-pin series from Morgan Kayser and 138 from Updike.

The Wolves rebounded to win the Baker-format games, 113-102 and 138-109.

Bremerton won the overall pin count by just 12 pins — 1,479 to 1,467.

Sequim (1-4) hosts North Mason on Nov. 30.

The Wolves meet rival Port Angeles on Dec. 4 and host Klahowya on Dec. 7 before playing at North Mason on Dec. 12, their final match before winter break.
