Sequim’s boys basketball squad ran into the toughest stretch of their second half schedule, falling to a top-10 Bremerton squad and a deep Bainbridge team in the span of two days.
On Jan. 19, Bremerton’s Jalen Davis scored 31 points as the Knights pulled away in the third quarter for an 89-64 win over the Sequim in Bremerton.
Sequim managed to hang close at 39-28 at the half, but Bremerton, ranked No. 6 in Ratings Percentage Index, scored 28 points in the third quarter to open up a 21-point lead at 67-46 lead going into the fourth.
The Wolves were led by Solomon Sheppard and Keenan Green, who each scored 17 points. Charlie Grider added 11 points.
A day later, in a game rescheduled twice because of inclement weather, Sequim took on 3A Bainbridge at home and fell to the Spartans 67-56.
Sequim was led by Grider, who had 14 points. Green added 11 and Lars Wiker hit a pair of 3-pointers for 10 points. Mason Rapelje had eight.
Sequim (3-6 in Olympic League play, 7-7 overall) was scheduled to play at North Kitsap on Jan. 23; results were not available at press time.
Looking ahead
Sequim is at North Mason on Jan. 26 and hosts Senior Night against Kingston on Jan. 30.
The Wolves finish the regular season with two away dates: Feb. 1 at Olympic and a boys-girls doubleheader at Port Angeles on Feb. 6.
