PassionFest planned in Forks

Patrick Loder, an Oral Roberts University graduate from Oklahoma, will be the guest speaker Aug. 8-9 at PassionFest, a free event at Tillicum Park, Main Street, Forks.

As a prelude, at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 there will be a prayer time with Loder at Forks Church of The Nazarene, 170 Sol Duc Way, Forks. PassionFest starts at 5 p.m. Aug. 8 and 11 a.m. Aug. 9. All-day activities for all ages are scheduled Aug. 9. Local Christian band Zeo Doxa and Soul Deep from Seattle perform at the festival. Forks worship leader Ryan Watson leads music both days. Information booths, activity booths and a food ministry will be offered.

There is no charge for booths, but participants must provide equipment/shelter. Volunteers will be needed at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 to set up, Saturday evening to help pack up and Sunday afternoon to take down the stage area. Volunteers also will be needed to video the event.

The festival’s goal is to bring ethnic communities, the general public and local Christian churches together, offer a message of hope to people, young and old, and provide alternatives to destructive lifestyles and addictions.

PassionFest is looking for sponsors and freewill donations also will be accepted at the festival. Mail checks to PassionFest Donations c/o Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 59, Forks, WA 98331 (all tax deductible).

A drawing/fundraiser to win a handmade Tiffany lamp valued at $1,500 made and donated by local artist Chuck Bible is taking place at the event.

Call PassionFest’s Port Angeles coordinator Kristi Hurley at 457-8213 or director Misty Claussen at 360-374-5357 for more information.
