The Peoples Forum, led by political activists Jim McEntire and Donnie Hall, are organizing “Local Government Transparency in Decision Making,” an event described as a “conversation with key decision makers and activists on how to improve the process for significant municipal decisions,” set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Sequim Prairie Grange hall, 290 Macleay Road.

This town hall-style gathering will include a number of local government and watchdog figures, who look to discuss such local issues at the Jamestown Healing Center, Happy Valley rock quarry and Towne Road projects.

Hall said a number of participants have agreed to take part, including: Bruce Emery, Clallam County director of Community Development; former Sequim mayor William Armacost; Clallam County watchdog Jeff Tozzer; Clallam County commissioner Randy Johnson, and Gayle Baker, former member of Save Our Sequim.

Representatives from the City of Sequim and Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe have been invited to participate as well, Hall said.

Each participant will provide a short personal perspective on the subject, followed by an audience-driven question-and-answer session, Hall said in a press release.

“We believe it is a valid question as to whether or not better communications early in the decision process could have staved off some of the furor that seems to arise over the decision,” he said.
