Local green thumbs may want to circle May 4 in red on their calendars for the Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County Spring Plant Sale, set for 9a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. (half-price sale) that day at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road.
Veggie and herb starts, perennials, shrubs, saplings and more are in store for shoppers this year, with Master Gardeners on hand to help attendees make the best choices for their gardens.
Choose from popular vegetable varieties such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and zucchini, then browse an expanded collection of herbs including thyme, oregano, sage and rosemary.
Spruce up green spaces with pollinator-friendly native shrubs and saplings such as grand fir, Pacific ninebark, red flowering currant, thimbleberry and mock orange. Perennials featured include azaleas, asters and Shasta daisies, or select from succulents, ground covers and ornamental grasses for a more water-saving garden.
The general store will have garden-related gifts and gently used gardening supplies.
Petals & Pathways Garden Tour tickets will also be on sale for $20.
All proceeds from the sale help to maintain the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, the 5th Street Community Garden in Port Angeles and the numerous Master Gardener community services such as the Youth Enrichment Program (YEP), Green Thumb Education Series and Digging Deeper presentations.
Cash, checks and credit cards accepted. Parking is available both in the west entrance lot and adjacent to Buttercup Lane.
