OMC adds Cota to orthopedic trauma team

Orthopedic surgeon Adam Cota, has joined the Olympic Medical Center orthopedic trauma team, OMC representatives said in late April.

Cota will mostly care for patients in hospital settings, calling on his expertise in handling acute orthopedic cases, they said.

Cota grew up on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, before earning his medical degree from University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C.

He went on to complete his residency at McGill University in Montreal and two orthopedic fellowships at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York and Indianapolis.

Now settled in Port Angeles, Cota sees OMC as a “fantastic place to continue my career as an orthopedic trauma surgeon” and hopes his presence allows more patients to get the care they need closer to home, OMC representatives said.

As a provider, Cota said he strives to create treatment plans for his patients that get them back to the activities they love.

“I am committed to ensuring each patient understands their diagnosis, treatment plan and expected outcome,” he said. “I provide individualized evidence-based care using a multidisciplinary approach to optimize recovery and long-term outcomes for my patients.”

Cota joins orthopedic surgeons Dirk Gouge, Tom Herschmiller, Dustin Larson and Loren Larson, as well as to the rest of the orthopedic team. He specializes in orthopedic trauma and emergencies while also treating fractures, dislocations and joint problems.

Cota provides emergency consultation and care, responds in trauma scenarios needing orthopedic surgery and sees urgent patients in the orthopedic clinics when needed.
