Bremerton man takes top prize at Duck Derby

Robbie McNamara of Bremerton was the top prize winner at the 26th annual Duck Derby presented by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe on May 31 at Port Angeles’ Lincoln Park.

Robbie McNamara of Bremerton was the top prize winner at the 26th annual Duck Derby presented by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe on May 31 at Port Angeles’ Lincoln Park.

McNamara won a 2015 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck or a Toyota Corolla provided by Wilder Toyota, a prize valued at more than $17,800.

An unnamed employee at Westport Yachts in Port Angeles was the second prize winner of $1,000 in cash from 7 Cedars Casino, while P.A. resident Krista Mitchell won $500 from 7 Cedars for winning the third prize.

Rodrigo Hernandez was the top prize-winner from Sequim. His duck was the fifth pulled from the Lincoln Park Pond; it earned him a $200 gift card to Washburn’s General Store.

Other derby winners from Sequim included Michael McAleer, Sofie’s Florist, Tom Blore, Shirley Mullikin, Cathy Collins, Paris Lazroe and Melodee Moore.

Irwin Dental won the Bub and Alice Olsen Very Important Duck (VID) Race.

More than $25,000 in prizes were handed out at annual event, a fundraiser for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation and Sequim Rotary Club’s charitable projects.

The OMC Foundation has given almost $3 million to or on behalf of the hospital during the past 10 years, race co-chairman Bob Lovell said.
