PA’s Elks Playfield to upgrade its pickleball courts

The Elks Playfield pickleball courts in Port Angeles will be closed for renovations beginning next week.

The renovations will include asphalt repairs on the two center courts and a complete resurfacing and new paint job for all six of the playfield’s courts.

On Aug. 8, the pickleball nets and fences will be removed. On Aug. 12, the city and its contractor, Rainbow Sweepers, Inc., will begin court repairs.

The project is projected to be completed on Aug. 23, weather permitting. The courts will be closed for the duration of the renovation.

“Once complete, Elks Playfield will offer a fully renovated playing surface, ensuring a quality experience for all pickleball players,” a city press release stated.

The project was funded by a $30,000 donation from a citizen who wished to remain anonymous.

Individuals looking for a court to play on could relocate to the following city facilities: Erickson Playfield for badminton and tennis, Hazel Porter Keil Park for tennis, or the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center for pickleball.

“We appreciate your patience and look forward to providing improved facilities for our community’s enjoyment,” the city press release stated.
