Second Saturday Garden Walk to spotlight good local growers

Learn what grows well on the North Olympic Peninsula, review what needs to be done in the vegetable garden and share control measures for common pests and diseases popping up in the garden now at the next Second Saturday Garden Walk.

Join Clallam County Master Gardeners Jan Bartron, Bob Cain, Laurel Moulton, and Audreen Williams from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, for the Garden Walk at the Port Angeles Fifth Street Community Garden, 328 E. Fifth St.

This month’s focus will be on recognizing and dealing with allium ailments and also growing and harvesting tomatillos.

Additionally, with Clallam County Department of Community Development announcing a full burn ban in unincorporated Clallam County, more water conservation tips in the vegetable gardens will be shared.

Walks are free and open to the public.

For more information, attendees are encouraged to check the Clallam County Master Gardener online calendar for updates at extension.wsu.edu/clallam/master-gardener-calendar, or to call 360-565-2679.
