Dr. Gary D. Lange
June 14, 1942- July 24, 2024
Dr. Gary D. Lange of Sequim, Washington, died peacefully on July 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. He was 82. Gary was born in Granite Falls, Minnesota on Flag Day, June 14, 1942.
The eldest son of Clarence and Doris (nee Ostby) Lange, he grew up in Richland, Washington with three younger siblings. He is a graduate of Columbia High School, Pacific Lutheran University and the University of Washington Dental School.
After dental school, Gary served as a Captain in the US Army, stationed on the East German border. He and his then wife, Ardelle “Frosti” (nee Frost), moved their young family from Germany to Sequim, where he established his dental practice in 1970.
Over the next 40 plus years, Gary was a dentist, rancher, and business owner in Sequim, raising two sons and engaging in community life. He helped found youth soccer in Sequim, was involved in Boy Scouts of America as a leader for his sons’ troop and was a founding member of Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church.
In 2010, Gary married Sandee Miller, and they enjoyed volunteering with Global Dental Relief and Himalayan Dental, traveling the world to provide dental care in places such as Kenya, Vietnam and Nepal. Together, Gary and Sandee lived an active life and visited all seven continents.
Gary will be remembered for his generosity, strong work ethic, adventurous spirit and occasional stubbornness. He enjoyed sailing, skiing, mountaineering, scuba diving, crabbing, and savoring his view from Bell Hill with a gin & tonic in hand. He did not like “burning daylight” and, as Sandee says, “He lived large!”
Gary is survived by sons Erik (and his wife, Kristine) and Mark (and his wife, Amy). His beloved wife, Sandee, and her children Ryan Miller and Allison Krashan (and her husband, Scott). His grandchildren, who will always remember his enthusiasm for life and passion for crab and construction, include Evan and Kira Lange, Elliot and Avery Lange and Dylan Krashan. Sisters Jill Peterson, Dawn Blankingship (and her husband, Charlie), and brother Jack (and his wife, Mary), as well as numerous nieces. nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Doris and brother-in-law Wally Peterson.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Gary’s favorite charities: Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts of America or United Way of Clallam County. A Memorial Service will take place on September 7 at 11:00 am at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church in Sequim, Washington.
Anita Joy Kennedy
January 9, 1933-June 12, 2024
Anita Joy Kennedy was called home to be with her Savior on June 12th, 2024. Born in Banbury, England. She leaves behind a rich legacy as the devoted mother of seven children, cherished grandmother of sixteen, and beloved great-grandmother of eighteen.
Anita Joy met her late husband, Richard (Dick), while he was stationed with the Air Force in England in 1953. Their journey together brought them to California and eventually to Sequim, where they made their home. Anita Joy spent many fulfilling years working in the cafeteria for Sequim High School.
Her life was a testament to her faith. She delighted in yard sales, peaceful walks, reading, and the charm of British soap operas. Above all, she found joy in her church family, where she worshipped and served with a grateful heart.
Anita Joy is preceded in death by her husband Richard Kennedy, daughters Berwyn and Sue, granddaughter Kelsey, and grandson Collin (Joey).
Though our hearts are heavy, we find solace in knowing she is now resting in the arms of her Savior. Rest in peace, our beautiful mother and grandmother. Your love and faith will forever guide us.
Anita’s celebration of life will be held at Pioneer Memorial Park, Sequim Wa. 2:00pm on August 17th.
