Sequim Jack in the Box closes

Jack in the Box, 1280 W. Washington St., closed sometime during the week of Sept. 22-28. Owners have since boarded up its doors and windows.

Operators of the business, AJP Enterprises, LLC of Fife, could not be reached.

According to the Department of Revenue, AJP Enterprises, LLC owns 40-plus Jack in the Box franchises in Washington, including the Port Angeles restaurant at 902 E. Front St.

The Sequim franchise opened in 2005, according to the Peninsula Daily News.

Partners announce grant recipients

The Olympic Workforce Development Council, WorkSource Clallam and WorkSource Kitsap are excited to announce the selection of five outstanding small business grant applicants, each awarded up to $10,000 through the Washington State Department of Commerce Community Reinvestment Fund.

Among the recipients were Darrin & Alicia Liggins of Liggins Landscaping & Maintenance in Sequim.

These awardees, grant program representatives noted, were chosen from a competitive pool of applicants based on their innovation, impact, and commitment to enhancing our local economic empowerment and sustainability.

“We celebrate their entrepreneurial enthusiasm and look forward to the ongoing positive contributions they will make to our communities,” they said.

Other recipients included: Raices Midwifery and Community Care, LLC in Port Townsend; Robin and Wade Jones of West Sound Dance Academy in Silverdale; Seth Campana of Campana’s Pizzeriain Bremerton; and, Sheean Meza of Uptown Barbershop in Bremerton.

Employment workshop set for Oct. 11

A free workshop exploring employment opportunities for women and gender-expansive individuals is slated for 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at The Hub, 117 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.

The event is designed to offer support, resource and opportunities for those newly entering or rejoining the workforce seeking tools, new skills and inspiration.

The event also features a free clothing closet, advice on business/personal appearance, mock interviews, education assistance and financial aid consults, resume assistance and job coaching, and more.

Panel speakers include Peninsula College president Suzy Ames, Ginger’s Closet executive director Laylaw Rawls, Port Angeles Mayor Kate Dexter and Betsy Davis, executive director of Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding.
