The First Church of Christ Scientist, Sequim, at 337 W. Spruce St., and the Christian Science Reading Room at 121 N. Sequim Ave., are based on the Christian Science religion rooted in the words and works of Christ Jesus.
The church draws its authority from the teachings of the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, discoverer and founder of Christian Science.
The Church of Christ Scientist has no clergy.
Sunday services are conducted by a First and Second Reader elected by the membership. The readings are from the King James version of the Bible and "Science and Health."
Wednesday evening
meetings include testimonies by the congregation to the healing, saving and guiding power of God.
Reading Room
The Christian Science Reading Room, 121 N.
Sequim Ave., Sequim, is a bookstore and reading center for the exploration of spirituality, prayer and healing.
It’s a place to purchase and/or study Christian Science publications, including The Christian Science Monitor.
People of all faiths, backgrounds and ways of life are welcome to the Reading Room. It is a community resource for anyone seeking spiritual understanding.
Meeting times:
_ Sunday services are
10-11 a.m. at the church.
_ Sunday school runs 8:45-9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Reading Room.
_ Wednesday services are 7-8 p.m. weekly at the church.
_ Reading Room hours are noon-3 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays except on holidays.
