Boys tennis: Wolves earn two singles wins at league final

Jack Crecelius and Lincoln Bear each picked up one win each as the Sequim High’s boys tennis team finished its season at the Olympic League tournament, held Oct. 25-26 in Poulsbo.

Crecelius, the Wolves’ No. 1 singles player all season, opened the tourney with a 6-3, 6-3 win over North Mason’s Janson Biehl, and finished 1-2.

Bear rebounded from an opening round loss to eventual third-place finisher Indigo Gallagher Zapf of North Kitsap with a win over Port Angeles’ Sky Gelder (3-6, 2-5 retired). Bear, who finished the tourney 1-2, was 7-6 on the season.

SHS’s Isaac McKeen and Mason Rapelje competed in the tourney, falling in both matches.

Grady DeVries and Spencer Gillespie of North Kitsap edged Port Angeles’ Nathan Basden and Luke Flodstrom in three sets to take the league’s doubles title while Olympic’s Jonah Pantig won in straight sets over Bremerton’s Joseph Cao for the league’s singles championship.
