The Port Angeles Community Players will open their production of “Christmas Dreams” with performances starting Dec. 6. Showtimes begin at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, and Tuesdays, with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Sundays through Dec. 22.
The performances will take place on the main stage at 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd., with the doors and bar open 30 minutes before curtain time.
In Depression-era Chicago, young Jackie McArthur (played by Charlie Medlong) struggles to support his grandmother, Abby (Melody Todnem), while trying to deal with anger at his alcoholic father (Daniel Brown) who recently abandoned them.
It is Christmas Eve, and when he learns his father is returning, he makes plans to run away. He is visited by a spirit in the form of a rail-riding tramp (Ben Vanderheiden) and must choose between the love that’s so hard for him to express and the hate that consumes him.
The cast of eight is filled out with local actors Simon Close, Tara Dupont, Rick Mischke, and Belle Robinson.
Director Marissa Meek says, “This family story told with realism, humor and love will light every heart that knows betrayal and the healing of forgiveness.”
Tickets are $18 for adults and $9 for students. Tuesday nights, any remaining tickets are $9 at the door.
Tickets are available online at pacommunityplayers.org or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance.
