Residents of Diamond Point will have a clearer picture of the fire danger level thanks to a recent partnership between a homeowners association and Clallam County Fire District 3 staff.
Battalion Chief Chris Turner said that last summer while surveying water distribution systems in Diamond Point, firefighters discovered the fire status sign on the Diamond Point Sunshine Acres Property Owners Association’s (SAPOA) information board was in disrepair and its wood frame was rotten.
“This simple tool was identified as a key communication mechanism with the members of Diamond Point,” Turner said.
So, firefighters asked to renew the sign “to ensure the current fire danger levels could be easily recognized by passing motorists,” he said.
A few months later, members of the fire district’s Community Risk Reduction team presented the board on Jan. 8 its refurbished fire district sign.
Fire district staff report Community Risk Reduction (CRR) identifies and prioritizes local risks, and uses integrated and strategic investment of resources (emergency response and prevention) to reduce their occurrence and impact.
Staff said they are committed to the district’s role in CRR. For more information about Clallam County Fire District 3, visit ccfd3.org.
