The VFW and American Legion will hold a joint Memorial Day observance at the Sequim View Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, May 25. All are welcome.
Sarge’s Place is purchasing the house and land across the street for housing veterans that need some assisted care.
To honor and thank all veterans a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day celebration will be held at the newly refurbished Clallam County Veterans Center at 216 S. Francis St., Port Angeles, on Saturday, March 28.
The Marine Corps League had a great response to its request for lap quilts for veterans in the area care facilities for Veterans Day. Many thanks to all who made or donated quilts. This year they want to expand the program to include every facility in Clallam County.
The Michael Trebert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be holding its Jan. 21 meeting at the George Washington Inn, 939 Finn Hall Road, Port Angeles. The guest speaker will be George Washington himself
The VFW will be a busy place in December. The bands continue with High Country on Dec. 13, Silver and Gold on Dec. 20 and Round Trip on Dec. 27.
Come out and dance! VFW Post 4760 has a band every Saturday from 6-8:30 p.m. at its hall at 169 E. Washington St. Nov. 15 is Silver and Gold, Nov. 22 is Round Trip, Nov. 29 is Still Kickin’ and Dec. 6 is Old Sidekicks.

The Sequim Valley Lions Club is putting on a spaghetti dinner at the American Legion Hall, 107 E. Prairie St., on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 4-7 p.m.
The VFW Post 4760 in Sequim invites you to come dance on Saturday nights. Every Saturday from 6-8:30 p.m. it has a band scheduled. There is no cover charge. On Aug. 16 will be Silver & Gold, Aug. 23 is Round Trip and Aug. 30 is Still Kickin’.
We have had Flag Day and the Fourth of July. I hope you all have displayed the United States flag on these occasions. Hopefully, you made sure it was clean and in good condition.
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
The Green Alliance for Veterans Education (GAVE) has veterans Victory Garden plots available at Robin Hill Park. This is a community garden that also donates food to local organizations by raising potatoes and pumpkins.
