The Black Bear Diner Sequim, 1471 E Washington St., seeks donations for the Sequim Food Bank, which will be converted into gift cards for the restaurant.
Staff created a GoFundMe page where the community can donate at www.gofundme.com/f/black-bear-diner-donates-to-sequim-food-bank.
Donations are converted to $25 gift cards and given to the Sequim Food Bank for distribution.
Like many Sequim restaurants, the diner is open only for take-out now, but donations also help keep some staff employed, said General Manager Linda Donaghay.
“We wanted a way to bring a little joy to those in need with a comforting Black Bear Diner take-out meal,” she said.
Black Bear Diner owner Bret Wirta said they are always looking for ways to support the community and the food bank was a perfect fit.
“Everybody can use some fried chicken and mashed potatoes with extra gravy, during these difficult times, right?” he said.
Andra Smith, executive director of the Sequim Food Bank, said they are grateful for the support of our community and the Black Bear Diner’s innovative fundraiser.
