Rotmark appointed to statewide economic board
The Washington State Department of Commerce has appointed Linda Rotmark, executive director of the Clallam Economic Development Council, to her first term representing the general public on the statewide Community Economic Revitalization Board.
CERB is Washington’s strategic economic development resource, focused on creating private sector jobs in partnership with local governments by financing infrastructure improvements. In addition to funding construction projects, CERB provides limited funding for studies that evaluate high-priority economic development projects.
Rotmark’s term on the 20-member board runs through Sept. 2, 2014.

Contract for erosion protection awarded
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract to Bruch & Bruch Construction, Inc., of Port Angeles, for $626,000 to conduct routine erosion protection work at Ediz Hook to protect the sand spit from erosion, maintaining protection of Port Angeles Harbor and the small boat basin from direct wave action and preserving access to the U.S. Coast Guard station. Work is expected to begin in November and conclude by February.

Department of Revenue offers free tax workshop
The Port Angeles office of the Washington State Department of Revenue hosts a free workshop for new and small business owners from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Clallam Transit System conference room, 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
The workshop covers Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements. Attendees may ask questions specific to their businesses.
