First Fed hosts free shred events

First Federal will host four free community shredding events to help individuals dispose of sensitive documents in a secure way. LeMay Mobile Shredding will be on site to perform the service at no charge.

Participants may bring up to five bags or boxes per vehicle to the following events:

• Saturday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.: First Federal Eastside, 1603 E. First St., Port Angeles.

• Saturday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.: First Federal Sequim Village, 1201 W. Washington St.

Events in Port Townsend and Forks are scheduled in October.

Taylor Shellfish earns award

Mathews chairs ed. committee

Levon L. Mathews of First Federal has been appointed Education Chair of the Washington Bankers Association. Mathews leads the 12-member Education Committee in creating professional development offerings, specialized leadership training and an education/human resources conference. Mathews has served as president and CEO with First Federal bank for the past three years.

Stewart named to council

Laurie Stewart, president and CEO of Sound Community Bank and former Sequim resident, has been appointed to serve as council member with the Community Bank Advisory Council. The council advises generally on Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regulation of consumer financial products or services and provide information, analysis and recommendations to CFPB.

Clark attends conference
