Coho’s summer schedule set
Beginning June 21, Black Ball Ferry Line launches its expanded summer schedule with eight sailings a day of the M.V. Coho’s 90-minute journey between Port Angeles and Victoria, British Columbia. The M.V. Coho departs Port Angeles daily at 8:15 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 5:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. with returns from Victoria at 6:10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. See CohoFerry.com.
Home cheese-making presentation
Angeles Brewing Supplies, 103 W. First St.,Port Angeles, is hosting a presentation by Matt Day, the co-owner of Mt. Townsend Creamery, at 6 p.m. Monday, June 25. Day discusses the company’s cheeses and review the process of making different types of cheeses. Local home cheese makers interested in creating a monthly “cheese club” are encouraged to attend. ‘Strawberry Extravaganza’ at Nash’s
Chef Arran Stark and Colleen Lamb-Gunnerson offer a free workshop on sweet and savory ways to add strawberries to menus, followed by a discussion of how to preserve them in jams, jellies and in the freezer, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way.
Stark is director of food at Jefferson Healthcare; Lamb-Gunnerson is certified by Washington State University Extension and volunteers as an instructor on safe food preservation.
Summer hours at Anne’s Antiques
Anne’s Sequim Antiques, 253 W. Washington St., will be open Tuesday, Friday and Saturday in June; in July and August the shop is open Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Hours are from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Call 683-8287.
Three receive AAA award
Three Sequim/Port Angeles auto repair facilities have earned AAA Top Shop Awards from AAA Washington. They are Evergreen Collision Center, 703 E. Washington St., and Sequim Auto Clinic, 887 E. Washington St., both in Sequim; and Wilder Toyota & Auto Center, 97 Deer Park Road, Port Angeles. Facilities that earn honors as a AAA Top Shop typically have received customer satisfaction rates close to 100 percent during the past calendar year. Sequim Quality Inn goes platinum
The Quality Inn & Suites Hotel, 134 River Road, Sequim, has won a 2012 Platinum Hospitality Award from Choice Hotels International for its focus on guest satisfaction and superior service. The Sequim Quality Inn was one of only 28 among 1,369 Quality hotels to receive the award.

Dr. Timothy Card has opened Sequim Chiropractic and Wellness at 415 N. Sequim Ave., formerly the location of Van Romer Chiropractic. Card came to Sequim from Atlas Family Chiropractic in University Place; he practices multiple gentle chiropractic techniques.

West Coast Preppers, based in Sequim, sells long-term survival food and supplies online at www.WestCoastPreppers.com. Owner Rebecca Larson holds local consultations and sample parties. West Coast Preppers will have a booth next to the American Red Cross booth at the Sequim Lavender Festival street fair from July 20-22.
