Larsen named affiliate of the year award
Kathi Larsen, First Federal mortgage loan officer, has been named The Affiliate of the Year for the Sequim Association of Realtors, an affiliation of real estate professionals from the Sequim area.
Larsen has kept the realtors informed of important updates regarding loans from the banking perspective and has been involved as a volunteer in many community projects.
She will be the 2012 chairman for the SAR Events Committee.
Free wine-cork wreath class offered
Around Again hosts a free class in making wine-cork wreaths from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, at the store, 22 Gilbert Road.
Su Howatt guides participants through the process; all materials are provided.

Burgess sets retirement date from JACE
After selling real estate for 23 years in Sequim and Port Angeles, Paul Burgess, managing broker for the Sequim office of JACE The Real Estate Company, has scheduled his retirement for the end of December.
Burgess was named Realtor of the Year by the Sequim Association of Realtors in 1990 and has served on the City of Sequim planning commission and the board of adjustments.
A published author, Burgess plans to spend his time sharing the gospel and promoting his books.
Eagles contract new building
The Fraternal Order of Eagles #483 has awarded a contract to Hoch Construction for a new facility
of approximately 6,000 square feet at 2843 E. Myrtle St. in Port Angeles.
Zenovic and Associates completed the building plans and will serve as construction manager for the Eagles.
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Monday, Dec. 19, at 3:30 p.m. at the site.

Hospital guild thrift shop
Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild’s Thrift Shop, 204 W. Bell St., Sequim, will hold its final Saturday opening from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.
Christmas decorations, warm clothing and home accessories are available.
The shop will reopen regular hours on Jan. 2. Call 683-7044.
