Film screened at Nash’s
The documentary “Sludge Diet” will be screened at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17. The film is free and open to the public. “Sludge Diet” documents the practice of spreading municipal/industrial sewage solids on farm lands and the impacts to soils and the food grown there.
Following the documentary, there will a Q&A and discussion with Darlene Schanfald, long-time Sequim resident, Executive Committee member of the North Olympic Group of the Sierra Club and the club’s leader of the Sludge-Free WA Project for Washington.
Handouts and recommended readings on this subject also will be available to make your voice heard. Refreshments will be served.
Blue Whole changes hours

Jazzercise expands classes
Peninsula Jazzercise, with locations in both Sequim and Port Angeles, is adding classes to its schedule for the new year. Jazzercise is a fitness program that gets results fast, trainers say.
New classes are the following in Port Angeles: strength, 7 p.m. Fridays; low impact, 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sequim has four classes per week, taught by owner Anne Amar.

Clark expands landscape certification
Gordon Clark of Clark Horticultural Inc. recently passed an exam offered at the WSU Mount Vernon Research Center that qualifies him as an ecoPRO Certified Sustainable Landscape Professional.
As an ISA Certified Arborist, a WSNLA Certified Horticulturist and the holder of a certificate in Environmental Horticulture from Lake Washington Institute of Technology, Clark exceeded the minimum eligibility requirements needed to sit for the exam.
