Open house, ribbon-cutting at Sequim Gym; elite athlete training center opens; merchants group meets; pruning class planned; diabetes, hearing discussed

Elite athlete training center opens

360 Sports Performance Training in Sequim will officially opened its doors on Jan. 26 to all youth athletes, especially those in baseball and softball. Owners are John Qualls and Lisa Jones whose goal it is to give young athletes on the Olympic Peninsula a better opportunity for sports-related college scholarships and a shot at pro ball dreams through elite athlete training.

Merchants group meets

The Sequim Merchants Group meeting is every third Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7 p.m. Locations will vary. The meeting on Jan. 20 will be at Habitat for Humanity, 350 W. Washington St., Suite B. Representatives from all Sequim businesses are welcome.


Pruning class planned

A pruning class will be held at New Dungeness Nursery at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30. The class will feature pruning established deciduous shrubs, older fruit and flowering trees in the neighborhood of the nursery at 4911 Sequim-Dungeness Way. The presenter will be Doug Cockburn, certified horticultural professional.

The nursery is five miles north out of Sequim following Sequim-Dungeness Way, a right turn at its sign will direct you to the nursery in Dungeness.


Open house, ribbon-cutting at Sequim Gym

Sequim Gym, 145 E. Washington St., is having its first annual member appreciation and open house at noon Saturday, Jan. 23; sign up at the front desk. Bring a potluck dish to share. Sequim Gym also will be holding a ribbon cutting for its news space at 160 East Bell St.


Diabetes, hearing discussed

Olympic Hearing Center, 528 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, sponsors a seminar from 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., on diabetes and hearing health. Audiologist Curt Miller is the presenter of this free program.
