15th business showcase set

The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 15th-annual Business Showcase is set for 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Sunland Golf Club, 109 Hilltop Dr. The event, free and open to the public, will feature booths of local businesses along with refreshments, games and opportunities to win prizes. Sequim funeral chapel earns honor

Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel was named “Best Funeral Home” in Clallam County for 2023. It was also named a finalist in Jefferson County.

“We are so proud to accept this honor,” said Erick Scheiderman, managing funeral director of Sequim Valley Chapel. “Being voted best funeral home in Clallam County supports our mission of providing the best comfort and care to families living in Clallam and Jefferson counties in their time of need.”

Each year, the Peninsula Daily News Sound Publishing asks its valued readers to nominate and vote for their favorite businesses to be named “Best of the Olympic Peninsula.” Winners and finalists were announced in September.

Lodging tax funding applications due

Clallam County’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee announces an opportunity for business grants for large-scale events, projects or infrastructure improvements from monies received from a consumer tax on lodging. Clallam County’s Lodging Tax Fund is the primary county source of funding for activities, operations, and expenditures designed to increase tourism in the unincorporated areas.

Applications may be submitted by any non-profit entity, any public entity, or any group of eligible organizations. Get an application by contacting the Clallam County Board of Commissioners’ Office by email at loni.gores@clallamcountywa.gov. Or get an application online at clallamcountywa.gov/757/Lodging-Tax-Advisory-Committee-LTAC. Applications/requests must be received by noon on Monday, Oct. 16, at 223 E. Fourth St., Room 150, Port Angeles; late applications will not be accepted.
