Locally owned custom framing and photography shop Clear Image is among 10 small business semi-finalists in a nationwide Microsoft contest offering a $20,000 grand prize.
Clear Image owner Daniel Jolly was limited to a 2-minute video to share his trials and tribulations involved with purchasing and managing his own business for Microsoft’s Small Business Contest.
“Making something like this was already something I wanted to do,” Jolly said. “This was a good opportunity and excuse to really take the time to do it.”
With the help of his staff, Jolly made a video providing a brief synopsis of his business and its expansion. After purchasing Clear Image in 2009, Jolly opened a Sequim location in 2012 and now has three locations with more than 20 employees.
“Being a small business, we’re very excited about this and the exposure is great,” Jolly said.
In return for the participation, Microsoft officials can use the contestants’ entries in connection with marketing, sales or promotion of Microsoft’s small business resources, according to the contest rules.
Small business semi-finalists range from Jolly’s store to a 14-year-old entrepreneur who developed iCPooch, a treat dispenser for dogs with video chat abilities. To watch the 10 semi-finalists’ videos and vote, visit woobox.com/a54o5f.
Voting ends midnight, Friday, Jan. 30. The winners will be announced Monday, Feb. 2.
