Morningside will host an “Eye on Empowerment,” a course to empower adults to enter the workforce, with workshops in Sequim and Port Angeles.
The course is designed for anyone seeking work but particularly those who may have dropped out of the workforce after losing a job or someone who may have never worked but wants to explore their options. Topics covered include classes on: money management, person-centered plans, self-advocacy, soft skills, navigation services, portfolios and resumes, and internships.
Participants, organizers say, will receive practical tools such as budgeting templates, their own person-centered plan, portfolios, and referrals from internships.
The first class runs from 2-3:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, with classes on Mondays going through June 13. The class also runs 1-2:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim, with classes on Thursdays through June 16.
