The First Federal Community Foundation presented a $31,300 check to the North Olympic Regional Veterans Housing Network, doing business as Sarge’s Place, for capital improvements to the recently acquired Sol Duc House in Forks.

Having successfully created permanent supportive housing for veterans with Sarge’s Place in 2011, the agency has expanded and enhanced its support for veterans with the acquisition of Sol Duc House. In addition to housing, the new facility fosters vocational and entrepreneurial endeavors that enhance the quality of life for local veterans.

In addition to general improvements to Sol Duc House, the agency plans to construct greenhouses, create organic gardens and build an onsite wood shop that will enhance job opportunities for local veterans.
