For the first time in seven years, community organizations are invited to an open house to receive donated goods from The Home Depot Gifts in Kind program. The Home Depot Gifts In Kind (GIK) program donates a wide variety of goods, including mirrors, toilets, flooring, and more.

The event, based in Port Angeles, is hosted by Serenity House’s VISTA Team. The GIK program is a partnership among the Sequim Home Depot, United Way of Clallam County, Clallam County Homelessness Taskforce and Serenity House of Clallam County. The program supports local nonprofit and community-based organizations by providing material goods from The Home Depot to directly benefit low-income clients.

To qualify for this program, you must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, tax-exempt school, library or federally recognized U.S. Indian tribe based in Clallam or Jefferson County. The materials must be used for providing benefit to any of your low-income clients/parishioners or for making repairs to organizational buildings. Any items taken from this program can not be resold, bartered, traded or transferred in any way by recipients.

If you are interested in viewing currently available materials, there will be a preview day from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. On Friday, Nov. 1, current member organizations may access materials from 9-11 a.m.. Full access to non-member, nonprofit organizations will take place from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The address is 516 E. First St. in Port Angeles, located in the garage of that building.
